Lithuania and Kazakhstan: 25 years of cooperation I

In 2017, we will mark the 25th anniversary of Lithuania's diplomatic relationship with Kazakhstan, which began in June of 1992 – less than half a year after this Central Asian state declared independence. The two countries' embassies were founded soon afterward and they have been working fruitfully ever since. Their business, economic, cultural, scientific and educational relationships are being developed and strengthened by an active network of honorary consulates: Lithuania has honorary consuls in Karaganda, Astana and Aktobe (honorary consulates may also be opened in Pavlodar and Oskemen), while Kazakhstan has one in Klaipėda.

Lithuania as an attractive direction of MICE tourism

The popularity of Lithuania as a direction of Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) tourism is growing with every year. Lithuania’s position in organising large international events in the Baltic Sea region is gaining strength. As a location suitable for large conferences, Lithuania has become a favourite with OSCE, NATO, UNESCO and other international organisations. It is Vilnius that is host to CONVENE, a traditional annual event of meeting industry specialists for the Baltic region.
